The End Will Scare You

Happy Halloween from the Ten O'Clock Scholars. No, we don't have any candy...now take this apple...and like it.

Writer's Block

Check out the past section for a review of Superfan's 21st birthday show by Superfan J himself. What? Sometimes I get tired of writing all these reviews. Especially when they're as long as Sokol and Mike's Place.

It's Sokol, not So. Cal

Yeah, you could say we had a good time playing Sokol for the River Concert Series last night. A special thanks to the ladies that came specifically to see us (drop us a line and we'll hook you up with some stuff). The two of the them represented roughly 1/3 of our fan base for the show, as we had one of our smallest crowds in quite some time. We did win over some kids, though, buy giving out a free CD...actual kids (probably 4 and 6 years-old, respectively) who stuck it out in the front for the entire show. Props to them.

We should have the setlists up from the past two shows either today or tomorrow...complete with pictures and our fiasco with Spicoli on his morning show (for those of you that didn't listen)...depending on when I get around to it. Oh, yeah...that's it, just an "oh, yeah" for all the crazy cats and jive turkeys out there.

Press Release

We've been receiving massive amounts of hits on our myspace site recently...I mean we had a dozen plays just yesterday. It's probably in direct correlation with the publicity we got on 89.7 the River last night during Planet O. Check out what they said about us:

"That was Ten O'Clock Scholars. Just one of the bands playing at the River Concert Series this Wednesday." - Kady Jaymes KIWR 89.7 the River

Hot.

At least Connealy and I can clear up any questions they have about us being a British "group" this Wednesday morning at 9:00 am, when we're guests on Spicoli's Morning Fiasco.

Animal House

Thanks to everyone who came to the Private Party we played in Lincoln last night. Good times and better pictures. Those pictures will tell a thousand words, so just wait unitl I post them before you start judging us.

Rolling Down the River

Theoretically, if you listen to 89.7 the River on your FM Radio this Sunday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, you should hear some TOCS music somewhere in there. Usually, they play one song from each of the River Concert Series artists for the next week as part of the local music show, Planet O. So, maybe you hear us, maybe you don't...you know, the same reason you hear any song on the radio.

But, you'll definitely hear us during Spicoli's Morning Fiasco on Oct. 26th. That show starts at 9:00 am and we will be guests in the studio that day, where they'll play a clip of one of our songs and talk to us about some. I'll get some more info. up on that as the day draws near...er...

Livin' in the Past

You can check out all of our trials and tribulations from the Council Bluffs show in the past section. It's quite a long read, but it's well worth your time...and probably the only CB story you'll ever get from us.

Good Old Council Bluffs

So I'll get much more of a review up of our show at Mike's Place in the next few days, but I'll just hit some of the highlights right now whilest I have the time:

- Council Bluffs
- A PA System missing cords
- Connealy freaking out about the setlist
- Guitar players getting notes from randoms whilest playing
- Scholars' girls getting ready to brawl
- All We Do Is Lounge
- A back alley (honestly, that wasn't very exciting)
- End of Council Bluffs adventure

It's like an episode of Lost...so many twists and turns and different characters, you can't help but wonder what will happen next.

We're playing...

So this sucks. What are the odds that G.Love and Special Sauce come to Lincoln on the same day that we're playing at Sokol Underground? Oct. 26th will now go down in history as the day we played a show in Nebraska on the same day as G.Love. Sure, I'm probably the only one in the band that would go, but whatever.

Moral of the story: if you can't make it down to the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, come check out our show. They're the reason Paul, Derek and I started the Ten O'Clock Scholars as the next big Hip-Hop Blues band. Turns out Derek's no longer in the band, and we have a completely different sound...go figure.

Mike has a place?

So, we ended up getting an e-mail from a friend in the John Henry Band. His name...John Henry. But what's in a name, really? There's certainly nothing in Ten O'Clock Scholars.

So, if you're still reading, then you should know that we are playing an impromptu show at Mike's Place in Council Bluffs this Friday. (Oct. 14th) Our goal is to sell at least one CD to someone we don't know. Which brings us to the next point...if, for some reason, you don't know us, come on out to the show and pick up a CD. They're only $5.

For those of you who do know us, or have seen us play before, don't fret (ah, guitar humor), we have something for you too. Brand new Ten O'Clock Scholars T-SHIRTS will be available at the show for just $10.

And, as a bonus, for those of you that read this post, print out this page, show up on Friday, and buy something that you don't throw away two minutes later, we'll even let you kiss Connealy.

New Music

Oh, that title's just a tease. We have no new music. We do have intentions of creating new music, then distributing our newer, old music with this new music that we've created to go along with our newer, old music.

Next practice we'll be picking songs from the Barn Party show that may be put onto a new EP we're looking to make. Look for possible tracks that will make the cut next week. In the mean time, you can check out the setlist, you were at the party, you have half a brain...so leave a comment on which two live songs you'd like to see on a new EP.
