It's High Time At High Noon

Well, that's probably the worst title for a post that has nothing to do with the Old West and everything to do with a band...but when you're trying to be creative, well, sometimes it just doesn't work.

It is high time for a little update though, since I haven't really posted much after we booked all these shows. Our "Summer Tour That Doesn't Really Go Anywhere" kicks off next Friday, June 8th with our first Lincoln show in nearly a decade...or a month...whichever's shorter. We'll be headlining the show with Sarah Benck and the Robbers and Matt Whipkey. Then we'll be hoping in the van, and heading to Webster City, IA to play the Boone Bash River Dash. This will also mark the first time that we've ever played on a flatbed trailer, so we've at least progressed from playing shows in my parent's basement.

Expect some surprises throughout the course of the summer, including new songs we've been working on, a few new covers we're learning and will bust out every now-and-again, and stage theatrics that include a wheelbarrow, some grapes, and the color orange.

Tuesday's For Real

So there's been a slight change in plans at our show this Tuesday at Shea Riley's. The two national bands that were supposed to be playing with us cancelled, and, when they asked us if we still wanted to play the show, we said, "Hell yes."

So, here's the new plan. The show starts at 9pm with some band opening up. We go on SECOND, and then Third Frate hits the stage after us. Should be a much better time than trying to cram 5 bands into 4 hours. As far as we know, it's still an 18+ show, so bring all your underage friends. It's $6 to get in, but when you think of it as $2 a band, it's not so bad, right?

Brought To You In Part By: Boredom

This has been a busy couple of weeks booking shows for us, but we've successfully landed some of Omaha's biggest bands for a number of our upcoming summer tour called, "The Summer Tour That Doesn't Really Go Anywhere." June 8th we'll be playing Knickerbockers with Sarah Benck and the Robbers (who will be releasing their new disc a few weeks later in Omaha) and Matt Whipkey and/or Anonymous American (we think the band is going to show up too)...making it the greatest Omaha band show that Lincoln has ever seen. We'll also be playing our first ALL AGES show at the Rox on June 15th, and have a headlining gig at The Waiting Room at the end of July...look, we have a lot of shows this summer...and they're all going to be good...well, that's not entirely true...statistics show that one of them will probably suck...but you can go here to see them all and make the call yourself.

Oh, and we have a new song that is finished and should be debut at Shea Riley's on the 15th. For those of you who are into flashbacks, here's one now: on our trip to play the Northgate Music Festival in College Station, TX, we started writing a song called "Viginia's Waiting" somewhere around Oklahoma City. Then after we got back from the festival we had like 8 shows in April so we didn't get to finish it.

Flashback complete.

So now it's done, though it does remind me why I never want to write songs for our band...because inevitably I write something and it turns into something that causes hysteric laughing within the band. I'm not sure how "Take Me Back" turned out so good.

A Quickie

Just a brief update about our May 15th Shea Riley's show. We're pleased to announce that our good friends from Third Frate will be on the bill as well, so it's like you're getting your two favorite bands for the price of one. For more info on the show, check out the shows page.

Now go eat some Milk Duds.
